HINTS ON NAVIGATING THE SITE

1. www.ponybit.org will take you to the title page for the whole site. Choose your text size now, as you will be unable to do so on the other pages. Now click the link to the contents page - every page on the site is controlled from this page. The layout of this is unchanged. Scroll down the page and click the link opposite the item you want. On Mouse Over, it will change colour if the link is active. Click it.

2. The page you now arrive at is a home page. If the window does not occupy the full screen, click 'maximise' - the middle square of the 3 in the top right corner of your screen. For Update pages, you will see a large 2 column table: headings on the left, some explanatory blurb about contents on the right. If you just want to read the Update (perhaps for the first time) simply scroll down past the table (on Updates after '8') and 2 or 3 inches of blank screen and arrive at the start of the Update. Note that the Update is contained on 1 very long page, so when you leave off for a time, remember the nearest heading in red.

3. If you wish to return to the head of the page from anywhere in the text, use one of two ways. Look on the right side of the page: you may find, every so often, the word 'home' in blue - click it. If you cannot find the word 'home', especially on all of the very long pages, move your mouse into the area to the right of the text. With a little experimenting you will find either 1 or 2 vertical yellow lines. Again, one or both will show a green thread - click either.

4. When you go back to reading, start at the table on the home page; find the heading which you made a note of - in the left column. On Mouse over, the heading will turn yellow, click it, and you will be taken straight to that heading in the text.

5. No references or abbreviations are attached to the Update texts - they are in a separate file. If you wish to check a reference, there are 2 ways to do this depending on your level of interest. If you are curious about the source of a reference, hover the mouse over the reference but DO NOT click it. You will find that a small 'tooltip' will show (only after Update '8', for only a few seconds) giving brief details - if it is a larger reference you will see the word 'more'.

6. If you want 'more' or need time to note down the reference, then click it. A small window will open with all of the references, on top of the Update window. Scroll down in the usual way until you find your reference. When you have finished shut the window in the usual way by clicking the X in the top right corner. Make a habit of shutting the window - if you dont, the next time you click the mouse, the reference window will disappear and you will be unable to open it again! That is unless you look on the task bar, when you will find that it is still open, but it has gone behind the main update window. Simply click the task bar to bring it back.

Note: To open the 'References' window on Updates 2 - 5, move the mouse to the left of the text until a yellow line appears. Click on the line. 7. To return to the top of the page from any line of the text, move your mouse to the right side of the page, just outside of the text. With a little experimenting, you will find a vertical yellow line appear. Click it, and the top of the page will appear. At the present time, this does not apply to Updates 7 - 9.

8. Pages are not interlinked, except for 'site news' , 'visits to other sites', and 'references'. So that everything is controlled from the contents page.

9. Should you wish to change the text size when you are on site, you must return to the title page. You can do this simply by clicking the 'X' in the top right corner of the screen.

10. Should you require to search either the Updates or the Indexes for words or numbered references, use the keyboard 'control + F'.
