PRAYERS TO BLESSED ELIZABETH OF THE TRINITY

(for private use only)

Blessed Elizabeth, what more beautiful thought is there than, '"Abide in Me". It is the meaning of the Eucharist'? Intercede for me that I may be obedient to the Master's command,'"Abide in Me": not for a few moments,a few passing hours, but abide permanently, habitually; - abide in Me, pray in Me, adore in Me, love in Me, suffer in Me, work in Me, act in Me.' Then shall I be as a vine branch which yields abundant fruit, for I shall live on in Him and He in me. Truly, I shall be none, while He is ALL.

Father, You are glorified in the assembly of Your saints. You have given us Blessed Elizabeth that her way of life may serve as a pattern, her company a fellowship, and her intercession a support. With this blessed witness to inspire me, I can run my appointed course with love, and in Love, to achieve along with her an unfading crown of glory. Unending joy! Unceasing praise! Through Christ, Our Lord, whose Blood has gained for mankind entry into the eternal kingdom.

"Oh God, Who loves souls so much as to make them Your dwelling-place we thank You for having enriched, during her life on earth, Your humble servant Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity, by granting her a deep insight into this ineffable divine reality. If it should enter into Your adorable designs to glorify with the honours of Holy Church her who longed to be even on earth the 'Praise of Your Glory', deign we beseech Thee to show by external signs the favour she enjoys with Thee, to the end that she may extend the Kingdom of Your Love in souls, oh most Holy Trinity."
(M.M.AM. du Coeur de Jesus, O.C.D.)

Blessed Elizabeth in childhood, you invoked ‘Our Lady of Perpetual Help’ daily with your petitions, confident that she could work miracles. In Carmel your love blossomed into a deep intimacy, but you still asked Our Blessed Mother for miracles. Toward the end of your life on earth you were never without your statue of Janua Coeli, and your Last Retreat resulted in one of the most beautiful Marian prayers that we have. Laudem Gloriae help us to deepen our love for Janua Coeli, and support these our petitions to her
(mention these now).

Blessed Elisabeth, you said: ‘For me death would be like the crumbling of a wall. I should fall into the arms of Him I love! How sweet and gentle death is for those who have loved none but Him, and who, as the Apostle says, ‘look not at the things which are seen ….. for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal’. My soul is full of joy at the thought that (one day) I shall gaze on the unspeakable beauty of Him whom I love, and shall be immersed in the Blessed Trinity. It is so sweet to wait the coming of the Bridegroom.

Blessed Elizabeth pray for all who invoke your aid when in their last agony: that they may die fortified by the rites of Holy Mother Church; and that they may go to Light, to Life, and to Love, praising God for ever with the Blessed in Heaven.

Blessed Elizabeth pray for me that I, who belong entire to Them, may abandon myself, in complete surrender and trust, to Love. To be consumed by Love; to lose myself in Him whom I love; to forget self, especially in times of Dark Nights, when the feeling of a terrible void is barely sustainable. Support my petition to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Our Blessed Mother and mediatrix of all grace, for grace to look upon each trial as a proof of Love straight from her divine Son. I promise you, O Blessed Elizabeth, to be ever mindful of your loving assistance. May I ask your intercession for these favours (mention your petitions). I will always honour you, and will do all in my power to encourage devotion to you.

Blessed Elizabeth, the evening of your life in Carmel was the epitome of a Praise of Glory. Laudem Gloriae please ask our Divine Master for that special grace: to enable me to understand and internalize more fully your spiritual doctrine;and to live that doctrine prayerfully day by day. May I emulate a soul which contemplated God in faith and in simplicity; reflecting all that He is and acting as a fathomless abyss into which He could flow and expand.

Blessed Elizabeth on earth you earnestly prayed to be transformed into Jesus crucified, and to make your home in the immensity of His sorrow - to dwell in the royal palace with your crucified spouse. Pray for me, and with me, that I may lovingly accept those crosses of suffering offered to me in Love by Our Divine Saviour.

Blessed Elizabeth may I imitate more fully your deep love of the Blessed Sacrament. In those precious moments alone with the Alone, may I glide into the depths of my soul with loving confidence; where the abyss of my nothingness encounters with the abyss of the mercy, the immensity of the All of God. There to die to self and, subsumed in Him, to be transformed in Love.

Blessed Elizabeth please pray that the Master will grant me grace to make every day one of uninterrupted union with Him. Let me awaken in the morning in His Love, and offer myself to His Love the whole day long: obeying His Will, and living under His eyes, with Him, in Him, and for Him alone. I wish to offer myself to Him at every moment, in the way that He wants. And when evening comes, after a dialogue in my heart which has never stopped, may I fall asleep in His Love.

Blessed Elizabeth please intercede for me with the Master, that He may grant me the grace to imitate more closely your praise of Glory as I seek, through grace: to forget self in the burning furnace of His Love; to improve my inner silence, silence of the senses and desires; to deepen my love and devotion to Our Blessed Mother; and to intensify my love of the triune God.

Blessed Elizabeth, may I invoke your heavenly mission that my soul will adhere to God and be maintained in that great inner silence which will allow Him to imprint Himself on my soul and to transform it into Himself.

Blessed Elizabeth, you ask me never to stop loving prayer. You invite me to elevate my soul towards God in all things, establishing a continual communion with the indwelling Holy Trinity, quite simply by doing everything in Their presence. May I learn by your example: to tell the Master, often, how much I love Him; and always to do whatever is pleasing to Him; so that He will never leave me alone, but will save, purify, and transform me in Himself. Then I, who am nothing, may also cry with the Apostle: Who will separate me from the Love of Christ?

O blessed Elizabeth! In Carmel you always wished to 'share': to share the Cross of Jesus, His sufferings, and the royal road to Calvary; to share with your sisters and friends your thoughts on Divine-Indwelling, St Paul's Epistles, and the joy of suffering for the Master. Today, you continue to share, offering to share your Heavenly mission with us as we live our 'Heaven in Faith' on earth. Blessed Elizabeth, may your life on earth help us to be more open to Divine Love, that we too may be lambs carried in the arms of the Good Shepherd, resting on His breast.

Blessed Elizabeth, may I be aware of your presence deep in the Heaven of my soul as I recollect myself in prayer;help me to be docile to the Holy Spirit that my life, and my every thought and word in this Novena, may be a praise of Glory; support my petitions now; and be with me on that day when Janua Coeli leads me to Light, to Love, and to Life.

Blessed Elizabeth, with each passing day help me by the example of your life on earth: to live the Rule more closely; to master and renounce self, more and more, that Christ may increase and be exalted. Let me lovingly discover joy of soul in all that sacrifices, destroys and abases self, that I may give place to our divine Master in my on-going Formation. I promise you, O Blessed Elizabeth, to be ever mindful of your loving assistance. May I ask your intercession for these favours (mention your petitions).I will always honour you, and will do all in my power to encourage devotion to you.

O Blessed Elizabeth, meditating on the example of your life here on earth, help us to contemplate Ideal Beauty in its wondrous brightness. Please ask Our Divine Saviour to imprint this Beauty on our souls, so that in our Heaven in Faith: beautiful with His Beauty, and luminous with His Light; we may love God with His Love, in God, and through God, until we go to sing the eternal Sanctus, beneath the radiant light of God's Face.

O Blessed Elizabeth, in your life here on earth you knew how to balance austerity and sweetness, and you saw 'denying oneself' in its proper light. Help me to follow your example, and to contemplate the law of dying to self which appears so austere; and yet is of delicious sweetness, when one sees the end of this 'dying', which is the life of God put in place of our life of sin and misery. Pray for me that, through your example, my whole exercise may be to abide in Love.

O Blessed Elizabeth! In your great love of God, You were always so close to the needs of your friend's. Now that you are in Heaven, before the face of the Lord, Please intercede with Him for the needs we ask you. (mention these silently)Teach us how to abide, in Love and Faith, with the Holy Trinity in the depth of our heart. Teach us how to radiate God's Love among men and women, in our everyday life, just as you did yourself, so that we may be a praise of God's glory.
